The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has received an application for a Plan of Operations from Teck-American to conduct exploration in the Lisburne Mining District at the Anarraaq/Aktigiruk deposit. The mining related activity is located within Township 32 N, Range 19 W, Kateel River Meridian. The USGS 1:250,000 Quadrangle is DeLong Mountains. DNR authorizations include an Approved Plan of Operations and Reclamation Plan Approval for Phase I exploration activities.

The Mining Section of the Division of Mining, Land and Water proposes to issue a Plan of Operations Approval pursuant to 11 AAC 86.800 for exploration activities on state mining claims as well as reclamation approval on state lands. Winter cross country travel on state lands not within state mining claims may also be authorized.

A copy of the application may be obtained from DNR.  For copies of the applications contact Brent Martellaro by phone at (907) 451-2788, by fax at 451-2703, by email at brent.martellaro@alaska.gov, or by mail to 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709.

This is a courtesy notice provided to the public.  Notification of a Plan of Operations application or a proposed decision to issue an approved Plan of Operation is not required by AS 38.05.945 since the proposed activity does not include the disposal of a state interest and the authorization is revocable at will by the department. Your comments about this activity will receive consideration even though this is a courtesy notice provided they are received within 14 days from the posting date of this notice. Your comments on the Plan of Operation should be submitted to the same contacts listed in the preceding paragraph.

Other State Agencies which use this application include the Departments of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Fish and Game (ADF&G) and Revenue (DOR). Federal Agencies include the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE), and U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) also reviews this application. These agencies adjudicate this application for the permits they require for mining related activities. Their adjudication may include additional separate notice and there is the opportunity to comment on the same activity to each of the agencies.
