NOTICE OF INVITATION FOR BIDS
AUKE BAY STATION, PHASE I
SITE AND BUILDING DEMOLITION
Project No.: 2016-23
Sealed bids, in single copy, for the Auke Bay Station, Phase I, Site and Building Demolition project will be received by the University of Alaska, Office of Facility Planning and Construction, 11066 Auke Lake Way, Juneau, Alaska, until 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 9, 2018 at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids by FAX will not be accepted.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Document Drawings and Specifications, is
intended to prepare the site for the construction of a new building, and consists of the following:
1. Hazardous materials abatement of the existing 14,000 sf building formerly known as the
NOAA Laboratory. The abatement work may occur prior to September 15, 2018.
2. Demolition of the NOAA Laboratory structure and four smaller outbuildings as noted on
the demolition plan. This work is to occur AFTER September 15, 2018.
3. Clear and grub site in the indicated boundaries. Limited landscape plantings shall be
salvaged by Owner prior to construction. Soil shall be salvaged and stockpiled for reuse
as indicated. Trees and root structures shall be removed as indicated. This work is to occur AFTER September 15, 2018.
4. Site shall be graded and prepared with base materials, silt containment, embankments and
retaining structures as indicated. This work is to occur AFTER September 15, 2018.
5. Water, sewer, power and communication lines and associated structures shall be installed
as indicated. This work is to occur AFTER September 15, 2018.
BIDDERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA REVIEWS AND ACCEPTS ALTERNATE PRODUCTS OR SYSTEMS PRIOR TO BID OPENING. SUBSTITUTIONS AFTER AWARD ARE LIMITED. SEE INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS AND THE GENERAL CONDITIONS.

All bid documents are available in electronic format. They may be viewed online and downloaded without charge and without deposit from www.aeplans.com. AEPlans software and website technical assistance is available at (888) 320-3032 (toll free). Bidders must register through the website to be notified of addenda. Printed copies of bid documents may be ordered from reprographic companies through the website or by contacting a reprographer directly. Downloaded files may also be printed on the planholder’s own equipments. Addenda will be posted on the AEPlans website. The bidder is responsible for periodically checking the website.
A PRE-BID CONFERENCE will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Facilities Services, University of Alaska Southeast, 11066 Auke Lake Way, in Juneau, Alaska. All interested bidders are invited but not required to attend.
Bid security is required with each bid. State law requires a bid to be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible "Alaska Bidder" after a five percent (5%) preference and Alaska Products Preference have been applied. See the Instructions for Bidders.
