Public Notice of Amendment to Millsite Lease (ADL 414960 and 414961)

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water (DMLW) has received a request from Fairbanks Gold Mining Incorporated (FGMI), PO Box 73726, Fairbanks, Alaska 99707-3726 to amend millsite lease ADL 414960 and 414961 to increase the size of the millsite lease by adding approximately 709 acres, referred to as Parcel G, and approximately 19 acres, referred to as Parcel B, to the current millsite lease.

Parcel G is a plot of land located west of the current Ft. Knox mine, in the Fairbanks Meridian, Township 2 North, Range 2 East, in Sections 7, 8, 17, 18, 19, and 20, that was recently transferred to the State of Alaska from the Federal Government per transfer document TA 2018-0001.

Parcel B is a plot of land located west of the current Ft. Knox mine, in the Fairbanks Meridian, Township 2 North, Range 2 East, in Section 17 that is on land previously owned by the Mental Health Trust and currently owned by FGMI.

The mining section of DMLW proposes to issue an amendment to millsite lease ADL 414960 and 414961 to include parcel G and B in the millsite lease.  Millsite lease ADL 414960 and 414961 currently authorizes FGMI the surface use of the land near their current mine to support mining operations managed under an approved plan of operation.  The amendment to the millsite lease does not alter the plan of operation and no changes to the plan of operation or reclamation plan are being proposed as part of this amendment.

A copy of the application may be obtained from DMLW, by written request, from Richard Lessard, Mineral Property Management, by FAX at 269-8949, by e-mail at richard.lessard@alaska.gov, or by mail to 550 W. 7th Avenue, Suite 900B, Anchorage, AK  99501.

This is a courtesy notice provided to the public.  A written finding is not required under AS 38.05.035(e)(6)(G), and as such a notification of an amendment to a millsite lease is not required by AS 38.05.945.  Comments about this lease amendment will receive consideration, even though this is a courtesy notice, provided they are received within 15 days from the posting date of this notice.  Comments are to be submitted to the same contact listed in the preceding paragraph.

DMLW reserves the right to waive technical defects in this publication.
