Notice of Intent to Award Contracts for the Medicaid Coordinated Care Demonstration Project

The Department of Health & Social Services issued the attached Notices of Intent to Award contracts for the Medicaid Coordinated Care Demonstration Project (CCDP) on Friday, June 1, 2018.  The CCDP is one of a suite of Medicaid reform initiatives established by the legislature in 2016 under Senate Bill 74.  Potential offerors were invited to submit proposals for one of three different models:

  1. Managed Care Organization (MCO)
  2. Care Management Entity (CME)
  3. Provider-Based Reform (PBR)

Based on recommendations from the Proposal Review Committee and following negotiations with recommended respondents, the department intends to contract with the identified company on each of the attached Notices.  The intended contractor for the MCO model is United Healthcare Insurance Company.  United will be demonstrating a Medicaid managed care model in the Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley regions of the state.  The intended contractor for the PBR model is Providence Family Medicine Center.  Providence will be demonstrating a patient-centered medical home model in the Anchorage area.
