Pursuant to Alaska Statue 38.05.850, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW), Southcentral Regional Office is considering an application from MTA to create Public Utility Easement to authorize the construction, location, operation and maintenance of a submerged telecommunications cable in Big Lake, Alaska to provide service to properties on Lazelle Island. The final easement dimensions will be determined in a as-built survey approved by DNR. The requested easement is depicted on the attached map and described below:

Within Section 35 of Township 17 North, Range 4 West, Seward Meridian. Proposed Public Utility Easement would be 30 feet in width and approximately 773 feet in length, occupying approximately .53 acres of State owned land. 

Members of the public and interested parties are invited to comment on this project. DMLW must receive written comments no later than 5:00 pm March 12th, 2018. In order to be given full consideration, all comments should be in writing and should clearly explain the facts on which they are based and how they pertain to the requested easement. Following the comment deadline, all responses will be reviewed and the Department’s decision on this matter may be modified as a result of information received.
