Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Timothy Nelson

PROJECT NAME: LAS 32118 - Land Use Permit

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The site is located along Robert Creek, at the base of Horace Mountain, approximately 18 miles northwest of Chandalar Lake and 18 miles east of the Dalton Highway.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:
Township 33 North, Range 7 West, Section 23, Fairbanks Meridian.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land and Water, Northern Region Office, has received a land use permit (LUP) from Mr. Nelson.  The LUP will be in support of commercial guiding in the capacity and configuration as used by Michael L. McCann (LAS 26730) in the past.  Mr. Nelson is taking over the guiding operation from Mr. McCann.  The site will consist of 2 wall tent frames, two caches, and hitching rails made from spruce poles.  Additionally, 7 wall tents varying in size from 8’x10’ to 10’x12’, 1- 4’x4’ shower tent, and 3 pit privies will be on site but removed at the end of the season.  The site will be accessed by horseback on existing trails.  The site will be used during the months of August and September.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE: Land Use Permit: 5-yr term, 2018-2023

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: January 25, 2018 by 5PM

The public is invited to comment on the proposed activity (Please reference which permit application you are commenting on, LAS 32084 or ADL 420936). After review and adjudication, we may issue a permit with stipulations for each activity.  The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
