Notice of Depreciation Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION of ALASKA (Commission) hereby gives notice that on December 29, 2017, Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utilities (AWWU) filed depreciation studies proposing revised deprecation rates for its water division (AWU) and its wastewater division (ASU). Docket No. U-17-104 was opened to address this matter.
Depreciation expense is a material cost of business that may be recovered through regulated utility rates. As a result, a change in depreciation expense may lead to a change in a utility rate that consumers pay. No change in consumer rates is proposed by this filing.
The proposed depreciation rates applied to AWU would result in an annual increase of $2,353,002 over current rates. The proposed depreciation rates applied to ASU would result in an annual net increase of $3,558,333 over current rates.
The Commission may approve, deny, or modify, in whole or in part, the depreciation rates proposed by AWWU. The Commission may set conditions on approval.
