NOTICE OF COMMISIONER’S DECISION

TO ISSUE A CERTIFICATE OF NEED

THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES

In accordance with 7 AAC 07.060, the Department of Health and Social Services has conducted a comparative review of applications for the following projects: Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, Establish Adult Acute Psychiatric Care Services; Alaska Regional Hospital, Establish Adult Acute Psychiatric Care Services.  In accordance with 7 AAC 07.070, the Commissioner has issued a Certificate of Need and approval for both projects, as proposed.

Project/Activity:  Establish Adult Acute Psychiatric Care Services

Summary of Decision:

Originating Application:  Mat-Su Regional Medical Center

In accordance with A.S. 18.07.031-111 and 7 AAC 07.001-900, Mat-Su Regional Medical Center is authorized to add 36 inpatient beds for adult acute psychiatric care services in Palmer, Alaska.  The project is estimated to be approximately 28,040 [SF] in size.  Total project cost is $19,250,756.  The estimated completion date for the project is on or before December, 2020.

Concurrent Application:  Alaska Regional Hospital

In accordance with A.S. 18.07.031-111 and 7 AAC 07.001-900, Alaska Regional Hospital is authorized to renovate 24 acute care inpatient beds for adult acute psychiatric care services in Anchorage, Alaska.   The project is estimated to be approximately 11,125 [SF] in size.  Total project cost is $6,776,000. The estimated completion date for the project is November, 2018.

Any member of the public who is substantially affected by activities authorized by this certificate of need may initiate an administrative hearing in accordance with 7 AAC 07.082. A request for hearing under 7 AAC 07.080 or 7 AAC 07.082 must be received by the department at the address below no later than 4:30pm on December 13, 2017.
