Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: Juneau City and Borough
PROJECT NAME: LAS 31772 Auke Bay Dredged Material Deposit Site
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Auke Bay, Juneau
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Sec. 27, T. 40 S., R. 65 E., CRM
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Juneau City and Borough submitted an application to the Division of Mining Land and Water (DMLW) for a Land Use Permit requesting authorization to deposit up to 30,375 cubic yards of dredged material on state-owned submerged land in Auke Bay. The dredged material will be removed from Statter Harbor, during the Statter Harbor expansion project. Disposal activities will be conducted over 30-45 days. It is estimated that two barge loads of material will be transported and deposited per day, approximately four hours apart. The requested deposit site is approximately 63 acres in size.
PROPOSED DATES OF USE: Start: October 2017 End: Active transportation of material to end within one year
DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: October 15, 2017
The public is invited to comment on the proposed activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 400 Willoughby Avenue/PO Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above.
