On May 4, 2017, the State Medical Board adopted regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 40 of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations update requirements and procedures regarding physician temporary permits and physician and physician assistant applications, addressing in particular the option to submit credentials verification documents through the Federal Credentials Verification Service (FCVS) of the Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States, Inc.; update requirements and procedures regarding the keeping of records and telemedicine; and update requirements, procedures, and provisions regarding unprofessional conduct and prescription of controlled substances, including changes to reflect statutory amendments made under ch. 25, SLA 2016 (SB 74).
The regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor on September 8, 2017, and will go into effect on October 8, 2017. See attached copy of the filed version of the regulations.
The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 224, January 2018 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
