Brief Description: The Board of Nursing proposes to update regulations relating to licensing and practice of nursing.
The Board of Nursing (Board) proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 44, of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with all aspects of the licensing and practice of nursing under the authority of the Board of Nursing AS 08.68 and 12 AAC 44. The proposed regulations deal with a wide range of subjects, including changing the title from “ANP” to “APRN” or “advanced nurse practitioner” to “advanced practice registered nurse” throughout Chapter 44, as well as education, criteria for evaluation of nurse practitioner programs, licensure requirements, license renewal, lapsed license, reinstatement, continuing education requirements, criminal justice information, temporary permits, review of applications, advanced practice registered nurse role and population focus, scope of practice, prescriptive authority, controlled substance prescriptive and dispensing authority and standards, preceptorships, identification, unprofessional conduct, CNA certification requirements, certification renewal, lapsed certification, and definitions.
