NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF AN APPLICATION FOR A CERTIFICATE OF NEED THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES
The Department of Health and Social Services (department) has received an application for a certificate of need for the health care facility project described below.
Project/Activity: Establish Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health Services
Applicant’s Name: Mat-Su Regional Medical Center
Project/Activity Service Area: Mat-Su Borough
Mat-Su Regional Medical Center seeks to establish acute behavioral health services in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough by adding 36 inpatient beds for adult psychiatric services and adult substance abuse services within the hospital. The beds will be Designated Evaluation and Treatment so that services are available to both voluntary admissions and involuntary commitments under Title 47 of the Alaska Statutes. The proposed service area for this project is the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The project will be up to 28,040 square feet in size with a total cost not to exceed $19,250,756. The completion date for the project is on or before December 2020.
In accordance with 7 AAC 07.042, notice is hereby given that any person planning to submit a certificate of need application for a similar activity in the same proposed service area must submit a letter of intent to the department no later than 4:30 PM, Monday, July 24th so that the department may prepare to conduct a concurrent review of all applications.
The letter of intent must include

A clear, complete, and current description of the proposed activity, including a description of each component of the activity proposed to be undertaken;

A certified estimate of the total cost of each proposed component of the activity listed in 7 AAC 07.010(a), as applicable, for the entire the project; and
-
An estimated starting date and completion date for the proposed activity.
A person who desires to participate in a concurrent review for a certificate of need must submit an application to the department no later than 60 days after the department receives the person’s letter of intent.
Once the initial application is declared complete, public notice will be issued and will include information on opportunities for public comment and the location where a copy of the certificate of need application may be reviewed.
