Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW)
Northern Region Lands Section

The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land, and Water, Northern Region Office has received a land use permit application from Jean Aspen and Tom Irons to reclaim and restore a site located along the Middle Fork of the Chandalar River near where Kern Creek flows into it. The applicant has requested a term of 5 years with the intent to renew in order for reclamation to be completed and the site to be monitored.

LOCATION

The site is near the confluence of the Middle Fork Chandalar River at Kern Creek.
The land is within Fairbanks Meridian, Township 33 North, Range 1 East, Section 31.

PROPOSED PROJECT

The applicant proposes to remove all existing trespass structures. They also plan to remove all trails and restore the site where the structures are by replanting with sod and saplings. The intent is to restore the site to a condition similar to how it was before being established as a camp. The applicants intend to document the process throughout the term of the permit. This would also be authorized by the land use permit.
