The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) received a permit renewal application for the Salcha Canaday Homestead Inert Waste Monofill (permit # SWZA063-17). 

According to the permit renewal application, the landfill owner is proposing an increase in both the final height of the landfill and the expected life of the facility, and ADEC is seeking public comment on these proposed changes.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
According to design information provided in the permit renewal application received by ADEC on March 23, 2017, Central Monofill Services (CMS), is proposing to increase the overall final height of the monofill from 15 feet above the original ground surface to approximately 30 feet above the original ground surface.  The permit renewal application also indicates that the anticipated lifetime of the facility will increase from 15 years to approximately 45 years.  Since both the final height of the monofill and the expected lifetime are different than what was originally approved, ADEC is requesting comments on these components.
