NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING OF THE

ALASKA JOINT BOARD OF GAME AND BOARD OF FISHERIES COMMITTEE

The Alaska Board of Fisheries (BOF) and Board of Game (BOG) will convene a meeting of its Joint Board Committee (committee) at the Egan Convention Center, 555 West 5^th Street, Anchorage Alaska, at 9:00am, December 9, 2015.  

The purpose of the committee meeting is to review and discuss potential changes to BOG and BOF processes that could result in budget savings for the state agencies involved with the boards.

The meeting is open to the public and the committee will accept public testimony. Tentative signup time for public testimony will run from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  

The committee is also seeking written comments from the public on suggestions for potential changes to the board regulatory processes to reduce expenses. While encouraging all public comment, the committee is seeking specific budget saving solutions such as:

1. What changes could be made to the board meeting cycles that would generate savings? Example – BOF moving to a 4- or 5-year cycle.
2. What changes could be made within board meetings that would generate savings?
3. What are methods for the boards to reduce the number of proposals it must review in a meeting cycle? What are criteria the boards could employ to reduce the number of proposals?
4. Are there revenue options for the boards to consider within the board process?
5. Are there statutory changes by the Legislature relating to board process that would result in cost savings?
