Notice of Utility Tariff Filing 

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Golden Valley Electric Association, Inc. (GVEA) filed tariff revision TA264-13 seeking to add a new cost element to its Cost of Power Adjustment. Specifically, GVEA is requesting to include the capacity and energy costs associated with purchases from Matanuska Electric Association Inc. (MEA). 

GVEA currently purchases power from various utilities. GVEA states that MEA’s entry into self-generation has provided GVEA with another opportunity to purchase power to help provide its members with the lowest cost power possible. GVEA has no immediate plans to purchase power from MEA; however, GVEA states it wants to be prepared should an opportunity present itself. GVEA seeks Commission approval to include the costs associated with purchasing power from MEA in advance so that GVEA would be in the position to immediately secure power cost savings for its members.
