This public hearing will now be held on March 10, 2015 at 7:30am in the House Finance Room, Capitol 519, Alaska State Capitol, Juneau, AK.
The Legislative Budget and Audit Committee (LB&A) invites the public to provide comment on the mechanism used by the State of Alaska to determine the allocation of funding among Alaska’s individual school districts. The hearing will take place on March 10, 2015 at 7:30am in the Beltz Committee Room, 1st Floor of the Thomas Stewart Legislative Office Building, Alaska State Capitol, Juneau, AK, and via a statewide teleconference.
LB&A has contracted with Augenblick, Palaich and Associates to evaluate the State of Alaska’s method of funding the K-12 education system. The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public an opportunity to comment on Alaska’s current funding structure and for the contractor to listen and gather information pertinent to this study. This is not a budget hearing.
The public can provide testimony in person, or from their local Legislative Information Office (LIO). If the local LIO is unavailable, or if there is no LIO in your community, please call the Juneau LIO at
907-465-4648 for further instructions. The Juneau LIO can provide a phone number to call to join the public hearing via teleconference.
In order to ensure everyone with a desire to provide testimony is able to speak, public members will be asked to limit testimony to 3 minutes. Written comments will also be accepted, in lieu of public testimony, and may be submitted until March 11, 2015 to Paulyn Swanson at lba@akleg.gov.
The public can also listen to a live audio stream of the meeting at www.akl.tv.
