PUBLIC NOTICE for ADL 227491- Purinton Creek Trail Re-route

ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

DIVISION OF MINING, LAND AND WATER/ SOUTHCENTRAL REGION

Purinton Creek Trail Re-route

Subject to Alaska Statute 38.05.850, the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW), Southcentral Region Office (SCRO) is considering a revision to an application for a public access easement from Department of Natural Resources, DMLW/SCRO within Section 19, T 20 North, R 8 East, Seward Meridian. Purinton Creek Trail Re-route (ADL 227491) begins at the parking area at approximately MP 91 of the Glenn Highway, and ends where it intersects Boulder Creek Trail and RST 564 Knik-Chickaloon-Nelchina Trail in Section 23, T 20 North, R 7 East, Seward Meridian.  The proposed revision improves the alignment of the current application described within a trail prescription preserving existing and future recreational needs for the public with a sustainable design that better utilizes the steep topography (see attached map).  The proposed revision is approximately 1320 feet in length and 100 feet in width, containing approximately 3 acres in addition. Development of this reroute will be in addition to the access currently provided by the section line easement.

Members of the public are invited to comment on this proposal. The DMLW must receive written comments no later than 5 PM on March 26, 2014. In order to be given full consideration, all comments should clearly explain the facts on which they are based and how they pertain to the proposed action. Comments should be submitted online or directed to the attention of Kyle Kidder by email at kyle.kidder@alaska.gov or at the DNR Southcentral Region Office, 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501; fax (907) 269-8913.
