Health Care Reporting Requirements, Screening, Confidentiality, Disclosures, and State Medical Officer Orders

NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES IN THE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Department of Health and Social Services proposes regulations on health care reporting requirements, screening, confidentiality, disclosures, and state medical officer orders.

 

The Department of Health and Social Services proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 7, Chapters 05 and 27, of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with immunization information, health care reporting requirements, tuberculosis screening, state medical officer orders, quarantine, confidentiality, disclosures, definitions, and technical corrections to update existing language.  The proposed changes amend 7 AAC 05.931 and 7 AAC 27.005 – 7 AAC 27.900 including the following: 

  • Disclosure to immunization information systems
  • Reporting of diseases and other conditions by health care providers
  • Reporting by laboratories of infectious agents
  • Control of communicable diseases manual
  • Reporting of firearm injuries by facilities and health care providers
  • Reporting of blood lead test results
  • Occupational health related concern
  • Reporting of occupational disease and injury
  • Reporting of acute toxic or hazardous exposures
  • Reporting of healthcare associated infections
  • Rabies vaccination and quarantine
  • Tuberculosis screening of school children
  • Review of state medical officer orders
  • Review of isolation or quarantine orders
  • Confidentiality of required reports and medical records
  • Permitted disclosures
  • Individuals subject to medical orders
  • Definitions relating to the above topics

The comments must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on June 7, 2013.
