Traffic Improvements(GO BOND)
Project No. 61422

During the 2008 election voters approved the General Obligation Bond. One of
the projects in the Bond is to construct traffic and pedestrian improvements in
the rapidly developing commercial area in northeast Fairbanks. The goal of
this project is to relieve congestion and improve safety in the study area (see
map).

We are working on a draft Traffic Study and we would like your input. Some of
our ideas include new pedestrian facilities, signalized intersections,
roundabouts, a continuous flow intersection, interchanges, flyovers, turn
lanes, road extensions, railroad crossings, Old Steese Highway realignment, and
a one-way circulation route. These can be viewed online at:

Once the Traffic Study is finalized, we’ll begin working on preliminary
engineering and environmental studies, as well as soliciting more public
comments on the project.
