Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility, 68th Pebble Brook-Baby Bear Water Upgrade

Notice is hereby given that the Department of Environmental Conservation, as
provided by 18 AAC 76.235, proposes that the following project is eligible for
a Categorical Exclusion to the Environmental Review Procedures of the Alaska
Drinking Water Loan Fund:
Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility
68th–Pebble Brook-Baby Bear Water Upgrade

The project consists of upgrading approximately 550 lineal feet of 16-inch
ductile iron pipe on 68th Avenue that has become susceptible to breaks and
leaks. Plans call for the water main to be upgraded using a horizontal
directional drilling method.

All work for this project is within previously developed public right-of-ways,
and will have no impact on any adjacent undeveloped properties or waters. The
project will not directly or indirectly adversely affect any of the following:

1. Cultural resource areas;
2. Endangered or threatened species or their habitat;
3. Environmentally important natural areas.

The project is not expected to have a significant adverse effect on the quality
of the environment, either individually, cumulatively over time, or in
conjunction with other federal, state, local or private actions.

The Department invites comments on the proposed Categorical Exclusion. Written
comments must be addressed to the Alaska Drinking Water Fund, Division of
Water, Department of Environmental Conservation, P.O. Box 111800, Juneau,
Alaska 99811-1800 and must be received by April 28, 2008.
