NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES ON EXAMINATION fees for Professions Regulated by THE ALASKA STATE BOARD OF BARBERS AND HAIRDRESSERS in the Regulations of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing (Department) proposes to change regulations to remove fees charged for the written examinations of barbers, non-chemical barbers, hairdressers, estheticians, advanced manicurists and instructors, and practitioners of body piercing, tattooing, and permanent cosmetic coloring.
The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing (Department) proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 12 Chapter 2 of the Alaska Administrative Code to repeal fees charged for written examinations that are no longer administered by the Department for professions regulated by Board of Barbers and Hairdressers. These changes include the following:
(1) 12 AAC 02.140. Board of Barbers and Hairdressers, is proposed to be changed to repeal the written examination fees charged for barbers, non-chemical barbers, hairdressers, estheticians, advanced manicurists and instructors, and practitioners of body piercing, tattooing, and permanent cosmetic coloring. The intended effect of this repeal is to eliminate obsolete fees for examinations that are no longer administered by the Department.
Under AS 08.01.065, the Department must establish fee levels so that the total amount of fees collected for an occupation approximately equals the actual regulatory costs for the occupation.
