Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Department of Natural Resources Southcentral Regional Land Office has received seven applications for the following:

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: As part of a pilot research study on kelp growth, the applicant is requesting the use of state-owned tidelands for the placement of seven 1-acre aquatic array sites at different locations throughout Prince William Sound. Each site will use a submerged longline kelp grow-out system with the approximate dimensions of 130-feet wide by 335-feet long. The sites will be operational with regular monitoring from mid-September through mid-May, while the anchors, buoys, and related tackle will remain in place year-round until the project is complete.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:
Start: August 1, 2020
End: July 31, 2025

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: Friday, July 10, 2020

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501-3577 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
