NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF EMERGENCY REGULATIONS ON THE ALASKA UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND OF THE REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA

NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF EMERGENCY REGULATIONS ON THE ALASKA UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND

OF THE REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA

On June 7, 2023, the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (Commission) adopted, as emergency regulations, changes in Title 3 of the Alaska Administrative Code dealing with the establishment of a universal service fund, including the following:

3 AAC 53.300 – 3 AAC 53.399 are proposed to be changed as follows: The changes establish a universal service fund through June 30, 2026, and implement changes in the Commission’s authority as a result of sec. 4 and 10, ch. 24, SLA 2019. The changes update statutory authority, redefine the purpose of the established universal service fund, establish a universal service fund from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2026, and remove inapplicable language from the Alaska Administrative Code.

The emergency regulations take effect July 1, 2023, and expire October 28, 2023. The Commission intends to make the emergency regulations permanent.
