NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
ADL 416827 Quartz Lake Easement and ADL 65463 Quartz Lake ILMA

Subject to AS 38.05.850 and AS 38.05.020, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT:  Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation (DPOR)

PROJECT NAME: ADL 416827 Quartz Lake Easement and ADL 65463 Quartz Lake ILMA (Interagency Land Management Assignment)

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: within and near the Quartz Lake SRA (State Recreation Area), just north of Delta Junction, AK. 

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

Quartz Lake Easement:

Section 24, Township 8 South, Range 9 East, Fairbanks Meridian, and                                    

Sections 30 and 31, Township 8 South, Range 10 East, Fairbanks Meridian.  

Dimensions:

Width: 30 feet

Approximate Length: Approximately 17,567 feet

Approximate Acreage: 12.1 acres, more or less

Quartz Lake ILMA amendment:

Township 8 South, Range 10 East, Fairbanks Meridian:

Section 19: that portion of Lost Lake in the SE1/4 and the E1/2SW1/4 and that portion ofQuartz Lake from the shoreline to 200 feet out within the E1/2 and the E1/2NW1/4,

Section 29: the portion of Quartz Lake in the W1/2NW1/4NW1/4, and

Section 30: that portion of Quartz and Lost Lakes in the NE1/4 and the E1/2NW1/4,

Additional acreage: 82.5, for a new total of 638.65, more or less

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW), received an application from the Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation (DPOR) for multiple activities to include:

• A trail easement for the Quartz Lake State Recreation Area (SRA).The purpose of the proposed easement is to allow for the development, maintenance, and management of trails that extend outside of the Quartz Lake Interagency Land Management Assignment (ILMA) by DPOR. The applicant has requested a trail easement approximately 17,567 feet long, 30 feet wide, and containing 12.1 acres more or less.
• An amendment to the Quartz Lake ILMA.The applicant is requesting approximately 82.5 additional acres of waters, shorelands, and submerged lands at Quartz Lake and Lost Lake.

The DPOR has already been managing these lands as such for many years.  These proposed activities have been part of DNR backlog. 

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:
The term of the reissuance and amendments of the ILMA and easement shall be issued until no longer needed for the specific purpose.

The public is invited to comment on this activity.
