Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Brent Sass, dba Wild and Free Mushing

PROJECT NAME: LAS 31762

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:  
Approximately 18 miles west of Galbraith Lake Landing Strip and approximately 10.5 miles north of Itikmalak River.  The site is also approximately 9 miles north of Gates of the Arctic National Preserve.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:   Township 11 South, Range 10 East, Section 15, Umiat Meridian

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:
Brent Sass, doing business as (dba) Wild and Free Mushing, submitted an application for a land use permit (LUP) for a seasonal base camp for dog mushing tours in the Brooks Range approximately 18 miles west of the Galbraith Lake Landing Strip and 9 miles north of Gates of the Arctic National Preserve boundary.  The site will consists of 5-8 arctic oven tents that will be removed at the end of the season.  The site will be used during the months of March and April.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE: 
Multi-year term for up to 5 years.  Beginning year: 2017, Ending year: 2022

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: Thursday June 29th, 5PM
The public is invited to comment on the proposed activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue a permit with stipulations for the activity.  The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
