Notice of Proposed Tideland Lease to Kootznoowoo Inc. on Admiralty Island

NOTICE OF PROPOSED LEASE

to Kootznoowoo, Inc. 
 

In accordance with AS 38.05.035, the Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW) has issued a preliminary decision to authorize a 30-year lease to Kootznoowoo, Inc.  (“Applicant”) for approximately 1.74 acres of state-owned tide and submerged land that is located approximately 5.7 miles north of the City of Angoon, and 0.4 miles north of Thayer Creek on Admiralty Island for placement of a marine access facility associated with the Thayer Creek hydropower project. The subject parcel is situated immediately adjacent to U.S. Forest Service managed uplands. In the NE ¼ Section 34, Township 49 South, Range 67 East Copper River Meridian.

Public notice of the preliminary written decision and the associated documents will be posted on the Alaska Public Notice System website for 30 calendar days (http://notice.alaska.gov). The public may provide written comments to DMLW during that time. Additionally, notice of the preliminary decision will be given to adjacent landowners. The Angoon and Juneau post offices will also be requested to post the notice of the preliminary decision.

The public is invited to comment on the preliminary decisions. Written comments must be received by DNR no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 07, 2017. All comments must be submitted to: DNR, Division of Mining, Land and Water, Southeastern Regional Office by mail at 400 Willoughby Avenue, P.O. Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020, by fax at 907-465-3886, or by electronic mail to adam.moser@alaska.gov to ensure consideration. Please include your mailing address and telephone contact.  DNR reserves the right to issue additional public notice as it determines necessary.

Following the close of the comment period, all timely written comments will be considered, and DNR may make appropriate revisions to the decision or issue the preliminary decision as a final written decision. A copy of the final decision will be sent to all persons who comment on the preliminary decision. Persons who are aggrieved by the final decision will have the right to appeal it.
 
The Division of Mining, Land and Water reserves the right to waive technical defects in this publication.
