Notice of Proposal to issue a Solid Waste Disposal Permit to the Oscarville Traditional Council to Operate the existing Class III Community Municipal Solid Waste Landfill

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has determined that the permit application, submitted by the Oscarville Traditional Council, for a Class III Community Municipal Solid Waste Landfill in Oscarville, Alaska, is complete. ADEC proposes to issue Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SW3A175-22, to the Oscarville Traditional Council, to operate the existing Class III Community Municipal Solid Waste Landfill.

APPLICANT INFORMATION:

Landowner:  Oscarville Native Corporation

Landfill Operator:  Oscarville Traditional Council

LOCATION:  The Oscarville Landfill is accessible by boardwalk and road, and located southwest of the community of Oscarville, within Section 05, Township 07 North, Range 71 West, Seward Meridian.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The landfill will serve the approximately 59 residents of Oscarville. It is estimated that the community will produce approximately 54 tons of solid waste per year. The fenced, 1-acre site includes disposal areas for municipal solid waste and inert waste.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:

ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed project only.  Notice is given that any person interested may present written comments relevant to the proposed Permit to ADEC.  Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. on April 17, 2017.  Submit written comments regarding the project to:
