Notice of Timber Sale under AS 38.05.945
The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry (DOF), as part of its forest management program will offer the following commercial timber sales for competitive sealed bid. The proposed timber sales are located within the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The sale areas are described as follows:

- 1 MBF = one thousand board feet = approximately 5 tons
- 1 Cunit = 100 cubic feet
Sales will be sold on an individual lump sum basis. The timber harvest contracts expire 3 to 3 ½ years after signing. Performance and Scarification bonds required are detailed in the contracts. These timber sales include utilization of existing permanent logging roads, new permanent, temporary, and winter road development, and roads as described and directed in each specific contract. Contracts include scarification requirements. Planting costs will be a state responsibility.
Pursuant to AS 38.05.945 this notice is intended to inform the public that the Department of Natural Resources is offering the Chrome #1 Timber Sale. This Timber Sale is composed of a single harvest unit, and was previously reviewed put out for bid and did not sell.
Also, pursuant to AS 38.05.945 this notice is intended to inform the public that the Department of Natural Resources is offering the Molybdenum #1 and Molybdenum #2 Timber Sales. These Timber Sales, each composed of a single harvest unit, were originally part of the Willer-Kash 2008 Timber Sale (SC-2905M). The Willer-Kash 2008 Timber sale was previously reviewed, sold and subsequently returned to the Division of Forestry unharvested.
The Final Written Finding required under AS 38.05.035(e) for the above timber sales may be reviewed at the Division of Forestry, 101 Airport Road, Palmer, AK 99645. These decision documents may also be reviewed on the Division of Forestry’s website: “http:// forestry.alaska.gov/timber/matsu.htm”.
All sales above meet the requirements of AS 38.05.112. The forest management actions are directed at achieving specific resource objectives outlined in the decision documents. The Alaska Department of Natural Resources hereby gives notice that it is in the best interest of the State to offer these timber sales by sealed bid. To qualify bidders must, prior to the bid opening, not be in breach of any prior timber sale contract, and must submit a copy of their current Alaska Business License. The business license copy may accompany the sealed bid. Sealed bids, submitted in duplicate, on forms provided by the Division of Forestry, marked on the outside with the timber sale name and number, and addressed to the Mat-Su Area Office, 101 Airport Road., Palmer, Alaska 99645, will be accepted until 2:00 P.M. prevailing time, November 24, 2014. Sealed bids may also be presented in person to the Mat-Su Area Forester before the bid opening. All bids must be in the physical possession of the Mat-Su Area Forester before bid opening.
For a bid to qualify, prospective bidders will be required to submit a 10% bid deposit of the total bid value, for each sale they are bidding on. The State reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Unless all bids are rejected, the sale will be awarded to the responsible qualified bidder offering the highest total bid value for the timber on each sale. The State also reserves the right to waive technical defects in this advertisement in the best interest of the State.
Persons interested in these timber sales are encouraged to visit the sale areas, review logging and road cost estimates, road construction standards, and scarification requirements and standards prior to bidding.
