NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES IN THE REGULATIONS OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND
ALASKA WORKERS’ COMPENSATION BOARD
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board proposes to change regulations on standards and procedures related to billing and fees for medical treatment or service.

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board propose to adopt regulation changes in Title 8, Chapter 45 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with standards and procedures related billing and fees for medical treatment or service, including the following:
1. 8 AAC 45.082(d) is proposed to be changed to establish procedures for medical provider submission of a bill for medical treatment or service.
2. 8 AAC 45.082(j) is proposed to be changed to clarify standards for the fee or charge for medical treatment or service not included in the medical fee schedule.
3.8 AAC 45.082(m) is proposed to be changed to modify standards and procedures for payment to a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
4. 8 AAC 45.082 is proposed to be changed to add a new subsection to establish procedures for publishing fee schedule information.
You may comment on the proposed regulation changes, including the potential costs to private persons of complying with the proposed changes, by submitting written comments to Director Michael Monagle, Division of Workers’ Compensation, P.O. . The comments must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on May 3, 2013.
Oral or written comments also may be submitted at a hearing to be held on May 3, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and might be extended to accommodate those present before 12:00 p.m. who did not have the opportunity to comment at the following location:

After the public comment period ends, the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board, during a public meeting, and the Department of Labor and Workforce Development will either adopt these or other provisions dealing with the same subject, without further notice, or decide to take no action on them. The language of the final regulations may be different from that of the proposed regulations. You should comment during the time allowed if your interests could be affected.
