State of Alaska, Department of Parks & Outdoor Recreation--Proposed Park Improvement Project, Johnson Lake State Recreation Area
PUBLIC NOTICE
State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation has applied for Land and Water Conservation Fund grant assistance from the National Park Service to fund the Johnson Lake State Recreation Area Paving, Striping & Electrical project near Kasilof, Alaska. Matching funds will be provided by the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources.
The project site is located within the Kenai Peninsula Borough with access from the Tustumena Lake Road.
The purpose of the project is to make improvements to the Johnson Lake State Recreation Area.
Proposed actions include the following elements:
- Pave approximately 115,000 square feet of road and parking areas;
- Stripe the finished pavement;
- Expand the boat launch parking area;
- Install electrical hook-ups for each of the campsites at the RV campground;
- Run underground electrical to service the electrical hook-ups;
- Install junction boxes for underground electrical access;
- Construct an orientation kiosk; and
- Install a single-lane, concrete plank boat ramp.
Comments concerning the proposed actions will be accepted from the affected public; local, state and federal agencies; and other interested parties in order to consider and evaluate alternatives and the environmental impacts of the proposed action.
Comments should be made in writing, sent to the point of contact listed below, and postmarked within 15 days of publication of this notice.
