Regulations dealing with Reindeer Slaughter and Inspection were adopted by the Department of Environmental Conservation on January 21, 2021, with an effective date of June 6, 2021. The regulations have been made permanent and have been filed by the Lt. Governor. The regulations will appear in Register 238, July 2021, of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations changes are summarized as follows:
The regulations governing reindeer slaughter and inspection were repealed since they have never been used by animal owners due to alternative state (18 AAC 31) and federal (9 C.F.R. § 300-592) regulation options.
