On November 10, 2020, the Board of Certified Direct-Entry Midwives adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in Title 12, Chapter 14 of the Alaska Administrative Code. To increase the availability of direct-entry midwifery services during the COVID-19 pandemic and future health crises, the regulations provide for emergency courtesy licenses in urgent situations. The emergency regulations took effect on December 3, 2020 and will expire April 2, 2021 unless made permanent.
On February 10, 2021, the Board of Certified Direct-Entry Midwives adopted the emergency regulation changes to be made permanent. The permanent regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor (or designee) on March 24, 2021. See attached copy of the filed permanent regulations.
The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 238, July 2021 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
