On November 20, 2020, the State Medical Board adopted regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 40 of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations establish requirements for physicians and physician assistants to register with the prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) controlled substance prescription database, as established by the Board of Pharmacy and required under AS 17.30.200; and to comply with AS 17.30.200 and with regulations of the Board of Pharmacy under 12 AAC 52.865 (reporting and reviewing PDMP information).
The regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor (or designee) on February 5, 2021, and will go into effect on March 7, 2021. See attached copy of the filed version of the regulations.
