Notice of Intent to Begin Environmental Studies
Elliott Highway MP 51 to 63 Rehabilitation

Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) proposes to rehabilitate the Elliott Highway from MP 51 to 63 including bridge work (Tolovana River Bridge #0440). This will include work on guardrails, signs, clearing drainage ditches, reshaping drainage ditches, replacing failed culverts, resurfacing highway, converting a portion to gravel for ease of maintenance (MP 52 to 55) and resurfacing and other work on the Tolovana bridge. This may also include development of new material source between MP 57 and MP 58 on south side of road. This project involves construction encroachments within an unmapped floodplains. The encroachments are anticipated to be minor, with no net changes to the base flood elevation, will not result in significant encroachments, and no longitudinal encroachments are anticipated.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by the Alaska DOT&PF pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated November 3, 2017 and executed by the FHWA and DOT&PF.
