The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) is accepting public comments on the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives for the Kasaan Library. The Kasaan Library is owned by the Southeast Island School District (SISD) and located at 117 Kasaan Street.
The Kasaan Library is contaminated with building materials that contain asbestos. ADEC is evaluating cleanup options for the site that would allow for safe reuse as a library and elementary school.
