Notice of Utility Tariff Filing

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Alaska Waste – Denali, LLC d/b/a Alaska Waste (AWD), filed tariff revision TA49-502, a revenue requirement, cost of service, and rate design study based on a 2018 test year. With this filing, AWD requests permanent rate changes based on the outcome of the included cost of service and rate design study, effective February 28, 2020. AWD is proposing no interim rate changes. In the event the Commission suspends this filing for further investigation, AWD requests that the new rates be effective at the conclusion of the rate case. In addition, AWD proposes the following changes to its tariff:

  • Replace Standard Can Service with Roll Cart Service;
  • Change minimum level of service for commercial customers from once a week to once a month;
  • Reduce the period after a bill when the utility will send written notice of termination of service to a delinquent customer from forty (40) to twenty-five (25) days;
  • Reduce the period after mailing the notice of termination when the utility will discontinue service to a delinquent customer from fifteen (15) to ten (10) days;
  • Add a charge for additional disposal of Roll Off loads over 2.5 tons, per ton, at the stated landfill disposal fee; and
  • Amend the disposal surcharge methodology to incorporate the disposal cost charge into the base tariffed rate and discontinue the use of a balancing account.
