Notice is hereby given that the Department of Environmental Conservation, as provided by 18 AAC 76.235, finds the following project qualifies for a Categorical Exclusion (CE) to the Environmental Review Procedures of the Alaska Drinking Water Loan Fund:
City and Borough of Juneau
Douglas Highway Water System Replacement, Phase II
This project will replace approximately 5,200 feet of water line within the Alaska Department of Transportation’s (ADOTPF) Douglas Highway right-of-way, from the intersection of David Street with Douglas Highway to Crow Hill pump station. Additionally approximately 200 feet of water main will be replaced within the Capitol View Court right-of-way and connect into the existing water main in Second Street in Douglas. The water main in this area was installed in the 1970’s and has experienced numerous corrosion related failures in recent years.
All work for this project is within previously developed rights-of-way, and will have no impact on any adjacent undeveloped properties or waters. The project will not directly or indirectly adversely affect any of the following:
- Cultural resource areas;
- Endangered or threatened species or their habitat;
- Environmentally important natural areas.
The project will not have a significant adverse effect on the quality of the environment, either individually or cumulatively over time, or in conjunction with other federal, state, local, or private actions.
