The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has determined that the permit application for the operation of a second Grind and Inject (G&I) unit and accompanying storage cells at Drill Site 4 (DS-4) is complete. ADEC is proposing to issue a comprehensive solid waste treatment permit to encompass both G&I units and related waste storage cells.

LOCATION: | The new Greater Prudhoe Bay (GPB) G&I facility will be located north of the existing DS-4 facility in the Prudhoe Bay Unit. |
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: | The comprehensive permit will include the existing DS-4 G&I facility and the GPB G&I facility. These facilities will be operated for the treatment and disposal of drilling waste and RCRA non-hazardous waste generated from oil and gas exploration and production activities within Prudhoe Bay on the North Slope of Alaska. |
OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:
ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed permit only. Notice is given that any person interested may present written comments relevant to the proposed permit to ADEC. Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. on December 19, 2019.
