NOTICE OF PROPOSED VACATION (DISPOSAL) OF RIGHT-OF-WAY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (the Department) is considering vacating a small portion of Material Site No. 71-2-020-5 and the Old Richardson Highway right-of-way (ROW) to the Village of Gulkana, the adjacent property owner.

The subject property is located near MP 126.5 of the Richardson Hwy, just southwest of Gulkana. It is about 1.21 acres in size, and is situated within the “Ringling Pit” material site and Tract H and Lot 1, Block 2 of U.S. Survey No. 4861. It appears that the fee simple and easement interests to be conveyed are not needed for a public purpose, or for the maintenance and/or operation of the Old Richardson Hwy. This action will not impact existing access to the Gulkana River boat launch.

This disposal of right of way by the Department is authorized by AS 19.05.070 and is guided procedurally under 17 AAC 10.100 through 17 AAC 10.105, and 17 AAC 10.125.

The physical file of the proposal is available for public inspection from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Right of Way Section, 2720 Picket Place (west side of Peger Rd.), Fairbanks, Alaska. The Department will accept and review public comments regarding the proposed vacation (file CQD/CDV # 19-02-007). Comments must be made in writing and must be received no later than 4:30 PM on the projected closing date of Monday, November 18, 2019.
