Request for Public Comments on the Healthy Alaskans 2030 State Health Assessment Report

The Alaska state health improvement plan (SHIP), Healthy Alaskans 2020 (HA2020), co-led by the Alaska State Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC)  is the only SHIP in the nation that is led by a state/Tribal partnership. HA2020 brings together partners from many sectors across the state to improve health and ensure health equity for all Alaskans through shared understanding, united efforts, and collective accountability. HA2020 consists of 25 health priority areas for Alaska, each with its own target for improvement to reach by 2020 with an overall vision of Healthy Alaskans in Healthy Communities.”

The SHIP, which is updated every ten years, is currently transitioning from HA2020 to Healthy Alaskans 2030 (HA2030). Healthy Alaskans teams have been actively engaged in completing the multiple steps and actions required to develop the next iteration of the state health improvement plan, Healthy Alaskans 2030. The state health assessment report summarizes several key qualitative and quantitative data sources and with which the Healthy Alaskans Advisory Team will base their decision to select specific leading health indicators for inclusion in Healthy Alaskans 2030. You may comment on the draft state health assessment by submitting written comments to Lisa McGuire at the Department of Health & Social Services, Division of Public Health, 3601 C Street, Suite 756, Anchorage AK 99503. Additionally, the Department of Health & Social Services will accept comments by electronic mail at healthyalaskans@alaska.gov. The comments must be received no later than 5 p.m. on September 6, 2019.

After the public comment period ends, the Healthy Alaskans team will either adopt the proposed report or decide to take no action before finalizing the report. The language of the final report may be different from that of the draft report. You should comment during the time allowed if your interests could be affected. Written comments received are public records and are subject to public inspection.

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF COMMENTS: Comments must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Alaska Time on September 6, 2019, by email. Faxed or oral comments will not be accepted.
