MIDNIGHT SUN RC CLUB

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: MIDNIGHT SUN RC CLUB

PROJECT NAME: LAS 25638

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Approximately 8 miles south east of Fairbanks, between mileposts 354 and 353 of Richardson Highway, adjacent to the Tanana River, and accessed by a public easement ADL 65053 for a diversion dike.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Within uplands of the Northwest 1/4 of Section 2, Township 2 South, Range 1 East, Fairbanks Meridian.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: To reissue a permit for the use of up to 5 acres of State land for flying radio controlled (RC) airplanes.  The site is mowed and maintained for model plane runways, and a small structure on site is used to store equipment.  Access to the site is gated to prevent vehicles from driving on the runway surface and to discourage vandalism. State land and the Tanana River is still accessible to the general public; only vehicle access to the permitted area is blocked by the gate.

End: February 13, 2024

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Northern Regional Land Office, 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above.
