In October 2017 the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) revised regulations regarding waste treatment facilities to require that medical waste treatment facilities, not located within a hospital or other regulated medical facility, operate under a solid waste treatment permit issued by ADEC.

ADEC has determined that the permit application for Safety Waste Incineration for operation of a medical waste treatment facility is complete and proposes to issue the permit for the facility.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:

ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed permits only.  Notice is given that any person interested may present written comments relevant to the proposed permits to ADEC.  Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. on January 15, 2019.
