Roadless Rule Citizen Advisory Committee to meet Oct. 24-26

The public is invited to participate in an Alaska Roadless Rule Citizen Advisory Committee meeting and teleconference in Ketchikan on Wednesday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, October 25 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

The draft agenda is posted below, and is available with other materials at http://merid.org/AKroadless.aspx.

Topics will include:

  • Reviewing and agreeing to a common purpose and principles for the Alaska roadless rulemaking effort.
  • Reviewing previous state-specific roadless rulemaking efforts and identifying approaches and components that may be applicable to Alaska.
  • Beginning the process of identifying options to be considered by the state.
  • Offering the opportunity for public comment and discussing comments received to date.
  • Identifying topics for further discussion and defining next steps for the development of final options.

Public comment will be taken from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on October 25. An informal community open house will follow from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. The meeting and community open house will be held in the Sunny Point Ballroom of The Landing Hotel, located at 3434 Tongass Avenue in Ketchikan.
