Notice of Utility Tariff Filing

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Golden Valley Electric Association, Inc. (GVEA) filed TA318-13, proposing to revise Rule 21 (Goodcents Program) to reflect the amended eligibility requirements of the program. GVEA’s tariff currently states that the Goodcents Program will provide financial support to community non-profit groups as well as individuals and families in need. Contributions to the Goodcents Program are transferred to the Golden Valley Electric Foundation, Inc., where a voluntary board reviews applications and approves grants to qualifying local non-profit groups, families, and individuals in need within GVEA’s service area. On May 29, 2018, GVEA’s board of directors approved an update to the Goodcents Articles of Incorporation, which amended the program’s eligibility requirements and removed individuals and families in need from the list of eligible causes.

With TA318-13, GVEA proposes to update its tariff to reflect the amended eligibility requirements and remove references to individuals and families in need as eligible for financial support under the Goodcents program. Non-profit groups remain eligible for financial support from the program and GVEA proposes that moving forward, it will only accept applications from local non-profit groups.
