Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: BILLY L. ADKINS

PROJECT NAME: LAS 32378

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Within the upper reaches of Bachelor Creek, 3.5 miles north of the Steese Highway at milepost 80, approximately 60 miles northeast of Fairbanks

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Within sections 15, 21, 22, and 28 of Township 7 North, Range 8 East, Fairbanks Meridian.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Removal of large boulders with a backhoe to increase access for a 4 to 5 inch suction dredge within the upper reaches of the Bachelor Creek drainage.  The site will be utilized June through October, and is accessed by a 4x4 truck and backhoe via an existing gravel trail that departs from the Steese Highway at milepost 80, adjacent to a Department of Transportation field station.  Fuel will be transported via five gallon containers and absorbent pads will be on hand in the event of a spill.  No fuel will be stored on site.

Start: August 1, 2018
End: July 31, 2023

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity.  To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Northern Regional Land Office, 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity.  The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
