Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Office has received an application for the following:

PROJECT NAME: LAS 417979

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:  
Sites will be located off of the Steese Highway near Central AK and also off of the Dalton Highway between Mastodon and Troublesome Creek.  

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:
See attached Table 1.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: 
A research effort by UAF to better understand post-fire plant establishment and growth, specifically in areas where fires have burned in rapid succession.  This research is also intended to better determine the effects of fire on permafrost and soil carbon.  This project is set to last three years.  UAF plans to set up soil monitoring equipment at approximately 12 sites that will remain in place year-round.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:
Start: January 2018
End: December 2020

The public is invited to comment on the proposed activity. After review and adjudication, we may issue a permit with stipulations for the activity.  The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
