Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Matanuska Electric Association, Inc. (MEA) filed TA488-18, proposing to add a new cost element to its Cost of Power Adjustment surcharge calculation. With the new cost element, MEA proposes to recover all costs associated with fuel purchases under a multi-year sales agreement for the furnishing of Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel #2 (ULSD #2) for MEA’s Eklutna Generation Station (EGS) with Crowley Fuels LLC. MEA filed a copy of the agreement as required by 3 AAC 52.470(e); however, MEA is not requesting approval of the agreement.
The proposed agreement is to supply ULSD #2 fuel for the ten generating engines at EGS as needed. The ULSD #2 will primarily be used as a pilot fuel and a backup in case of a system emergency. Under the agreement, the ULSD #2 will also be used in MEA’s two hot water boilers and two 1000kW standby generators. The agreement has an effective date of December 12, 2017, with an initial term of 24 months, and may be renewed for up to two one-year terms.
