Public Notice for the Kodiak Island Borough Landfill Expansion of the Construction and Demolition Waste Cell

PUBLIC NOTICE
STATE OF ALASKA
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH LANDFILL EXPANSION CELL

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has determined that the Kodiak Island Borough application for modification to the existing Kodiak Island Borough Class I landfill permit, No. SW1A005-18, is complete.  ADEC is proposing to issue a modification to the Solid Waste Disposal Permit to include a lateral expansion of the construction and demolition (C&D) waste cell at the Kodiak Island Borough Landfill.

APPLICANT INFORMATION: 

Owner/Operator: Kodiak Island BOROUGH

LOCATION
The Kodiak Island Borough Landfill is located at 1203 Monashka Bay Road, approximately six miles northwest of the City of Kodiak. The facility is located within the Northwest quarter of Section 29, Township 27 North, Range 20 West, Seward Meridian.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  

The Kodiak Island Borough is applying to modify the operating permit for the Kodiak Island Borough Landfill to expand the unlined C&D waste cell.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed project only. Notice is given that any person interested may present written comments relevant to the proposed permit modification to ADEC. Written comments (please include your email or mailing address) will be included in the record if received before 5:00pm on October 21, 2017. Submit written comments to:
