Notice of Utility Tariff Filing

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Matanuska Electric Association, Inc. (MEA) filed TA485-18, a revenue requirement study and cost of service study based on a 2016 test year. MEA proposes an overall increase of 2.75 percent in base rate revenues. The base rate revenue increase consists of 2.57 percent for the Single-Phase rate class, 3.30 percent for its Three-Phase rate class, and 1.97 percent for the Streetlight rate class. Individual customer percent rate changes will vary depending on usage. A selection of the current and proposed rates are shown in the table below. MEA is not requesting an interim rate increase.

In addition to the increases to rates, MEA is proposing to add new rate schedules to include LED Streetlights, Optional Standby and Buyback service, and Large Power Contract service to its tariff. MEA is also proposing to discontinue Optional Three-Phase Large Power service, Experimental Water Heating Controlled service, and Experimental Interruptible service. MEA states that it does not have any customers using any of these services.

Further, MEA proposes to update its transmission rates and ancillary charges. MEA proposes to add a new per hour service rate for each of the transmission rate schedules except Rate Schedule T-8, which currently has an hourly rate. A selection of the current and proposed transmission rates are shown in the table below.
